Most coffee cherries produce two flat-sided beans. Occasionally, nature creates something different.
A peaberry forms when a coffee cherry develops a single rounded bean instead of two. Representing only a small portion of the annual harvest, these distinctive beans are carefully separated during grading and valued for their rarity, consistency, and unique roasting characteristics.
Rancher's Reserve begins with 100% Kona Peaberry coffee and is roasted in small batches to develop greater body and sweetness while preserving the smooth character that makes peaberry coffee so sought after. The rounded shape of the bean promotes even heat distribution during roasting, allowing for exceptional consistency throughout the roast.
Our dark roast profile encourages deeper caramelization, bringing forward notes of dark cocoa, caramelized brown sugar, and toasted macadamia nut. Acidity softens as body increases, creating a rich and satisfying cup with remarkable balance and structure.
